Synopsis
Psalms is a mesmerising and moving musical film from Britain, exploring what unites us in
an increasingly divided world. Filmed in the UK’s most iconic and spiritual locations,
including Glen Coe, Hadrian’s Wall, the Peak District, and Neolithic stone circles, and
performed in Hebrew, Yiddish, Welsh, Gaelic, Irish and English dialects, this stunning 35-
minute, entirely a capella cinematic journey shows how ancient Jewish themes resonate
with modern day life. From BAFTA-nominated composer/filmmaker Benjamin Till and
performed by acclaimed vocal group Mosaic Voices, together with leading British female
folk artists. A unique and emotional audience experience.

Benjamin Till is a BAFTA-nominated, multi-award-winning British filmmaker and composer
who is a pioneer in the field of documentary musicals. Films include Songs From
Hattersley (BBC), the Grierson-nominated A1: The Road Musical (Channel 4), Tyne and Wear
Metro: The Musical (BBC), A Symphony for Yorkshire (BBC, winner of 3 RTS Awards) and Our
Gay Wedding the Musical (Channel 4), which was nominated for fifteen major TV awards
including Guardian TV Moment of the Year. It won a prestigious Rose D’or, a Prix Italia and
the Grierson for Best Entertaining Documentary. His film 100 Faces won the gold prize at
the Robinson’s Short Film awards in Pittsburgh.
Benjamin is Resident Composer for Mosaic Voices who are based at the New West End
Synagogue in Central London for whom he has composed and arranged over 150 pieces of
music. His compositions have been performed all over the world at venues including the
Royal Albert Hall, the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Rooms. He has released six albums, the
most recent of which was Mosaic Voices’ Letter To Kamilla which was released by Chandos
Records and reached number 5 in the official UK Classical Music charts. His stage musicals
include Em, Letter to a Daughter (written with playwright Sir Arnold Wesker) and Brass,
which won a UK Theatre Award and is presently in development as a screenplay. He runs
the Film Lab at UK Jewish Film.
