Synopsis
Karin, an Israeli human rights lawyer, finds herself babysitting Nasrin, the 12-year-old daughter of her Palestinian client, for a day. While Karin is caught up in bureaucracy, she fails to notice that Nasrin is in distress. To help her, Karin must tap into a maternal empathy she didn’t know she had.
Director
Noa Gusakov is an award-winning filmmaker currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel. She graduated from the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem. Her writing and directing credits include six short films that have collectively screened at over 100 film festivals and won numerous awards.
Her graduation film, Lookout, was selected as one of the 30 Best Films of Sam Spiegel and was screened at the Berlinale. Two of her short films, Large Soldier and How to Swim, were nominated for the Israeli Academy Award for Best Short Film. The screenplay for Large Soldier was developed at the Berlinale Short Film Station. How to Swim had its international premiere at the Palm Springs ShortFest and was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick.
Noa is also a television creator and has received an Israeli Academy Award for Best Direction in a Teen Drama Series, along with two awards for Best Screenplay in a Teen Drama Series. In recent years, she received writing fellowships from the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire and Yaddo in New York. Noa currently works as a screenwriter and director for television productions and is developing her debut feature film.
