Synopsis
1939: A young Jewish girl escapes Nazi Germany, due to the tenacity of her mother, on a ship bound for Shanghai. They make it to the Jewish Ghetto, and the young girl begins her journey toward ‘losing Jewishness’. Eighty years later, with the help of her daughter, she fights to reinstate her lost German citizenship and hopes to complete a trip to the country that tried to eliminate her. A journey revealing deeply buried family secrets.
Director
Tracy Whipple
Born and raised in South Florida, Tracy performed as an alligator wrestler and airboat captain in the Everglades as well as a circus showgirl & aerialist until relocating to the Bay Area, California where she then spent 20+ years as a chef. Then she opened a small media production company (SpaghettiHead Media) before coming back home to Florida.
Dabbling screenwriter, and actor-at-heart, Tracy now co-directs documentaries as well as both making- and being in- narrative short fiction films.

Gilles Bovon
Gilles Bovon is a filmmaker based both in France and the US. Produced for the main European TV public channels, his documentary films have been selected and awarded in festivals worldwide. He now alternates with fiction short-film projects (‘Walking Around’ (2021), ‘Benighted Creatures’ (2024).
